Show Review

Date: January 27 2008
Lineup: Internal Affairs, Swamp Thing, Alpha & Omega, Cruel Hand, Junkyard Dogs
Location: Alleykatz, Richmond, VA

Freezing rain and ice cold outside, Coreee, Chris and I headed to the venue in Shockoe Bottom. We arrived shortly before the first band and here's a band-by-band review.

Junkyard Dogs- My best friends. Every time I see this band I get so excited and tonight was no exception. Richmond's own brought an excellent set to the table and a great cover (The Icemen - The Harsh Truth) as well. The crowd was going wild. Excellent NYHC influenced hardcore for fans of Warzone, Judge and Madball.

Alpha & Omega- Southern influenced hardcore with metal/rock and roll undertones. Think: Life Of Agony, Crowbar, Electric Wizard, Sheer Terror. I enjoyed their set. Their live show was outstanding. Crowd response was so-so. Ya win some, ya lose some.

Cruel Hand- Best set. This band deserves all the praise and hype they get. People were going nuts, I loved it. Check them out (members of Outbreak).

Internal Affairs- Last east coast tour. This band has worked their asses off. This band is fast and I mean FAST. And did I mention pissed off? I enjoyed their set. IA RIP

Swamp Thing- I've seen this band close to 20 times and these dudes continue to rip. This was their record release show for 'In Shame'. Richmond hardcore at its finest. Always fun, maximum output.

Shit. I'm mad I missed this. Did Cruel Hand play Hounds?
